Our Great School

Students at QBPS ar encouraged to use their 'smarts' and be 'proud' at school. Staff continue to develop their professional knowledge in a collaborative and team environment. Classes are structured in phases of learning including the early years housed in Djeran and Kambarang, the middle years housed in Birak and the senior years housed in Makuru.

Our Practices

QBPS is aligned to the Western Australian Department of Education and as such utilises the core values of equity, excellence and care, together with the shared beliefs, as the basis for decision making. It reflects to content taught in the Western Australia curriculum.

The School focus on inclusive education extends to the classroom, which is strengthened by the following approaches: - A focus on teaching and learning - Improved pedagogy to support all learners through a team approach throughout the school.

- Focus on Coooperative Learning structures

- Identification of students strengths to support learning in particular as an expectation in Literacy and Numeracy.

- Extension and enrichment for those students who are talented and gifted through additional classes in Maths, ICT and extra curricula engagement.

- Strong Behaviour Management processes that are based on a safe and positive learning environment designed to support a consisent and predictable approach to support students.

- Focus on ICT equipping students with the necessary knowledge and skills to use ICT to support contemporary learning and living.

Our Great Collaborative Team

A culture of review and reflection is evident in our school processes with monitoring and support to respond to identified student needs an embedded feature of our School Plan. This results in:

an evidenced based approach to all aspects of operational and strategic planning that values and builds on successful practice in the school.

All kids needs met

A strong inclusive education focus supports and 'wraps around' students at educational risk ( SAER) and the social and emotional needs and development of each child in the school. A comprehensive case management approach caters for students with specific learning needs and difficulties.

A feature of the school's general approach is the development of 'wrap around' monitoring and methodology to address non- academic areas of student performance- particularly for attendance.
