Dear Parent and Carers,
As we enter the final weeks of term one, I would like to thank everyone for their support during my time as Principal. Mrs Leigh has done an excellent job taking over from my Associate Principal position.
At the first assembly this year I discussed with the students that our positive expectations focus for the term would be Respect. I am pleased to witness a significant improvement in students respect for one another and toward our staff.
Change in schools is inevitable, staff have the right to leave entitlements and to follow their own career path. Going forward I would like to see our students extend respect to our visitors and relief staff. In a climate of teacher and education assistant shortage we want to ensure that we are a preferred worksite and recruit the best staff for our school.
This week we have been celebrating Harmony Week. On Tuesday, it was wonderful to see so many students dressed in orange or national costume to represent their culture and ancestry.
Mr Kemp and the students are working on a mural at the back of Kambarang Block. “Everyone Belongs” will be seen by the school and the community as they enter the grounds from Santa Barbara Parade. It will serve as a visual reminder to all to be inclusive and respectful.
M5 Assembly
Our first assembly was hosted by M5 who presented a most amusing Who Dun It? that had the whole audience enthralled. Well done to Mr Passmore and his class.
COVID-19 Guide for Families
As we approach the end of the school term, I ask that you please continue to be vigilant around sickness and in particular COVID. Whilst only a small number, we have seen a reoccurrence of COVID cases in staff and students.
To reduce the risk to others it is recommended that staff and students:
- Not attend school if they are unwell.
- Stay home until symptoms have resolved.
- Test if presenting with COVID symptoms.
- If positive to COVID the recommended advice is to remain home for a minimum of 5 days or until your symptoms have resolved.
- Register positive RAT results through the Department of Health website.
We have a supply of RAT tests available in the front office, if you would like. Please note the expiry dates of tests that you may already have at home.
I thank you in advance for continuing to keep your family, people around you and our school safe. If you have any queries, please contact us.
End of term Star reward
The reward for students who have earnt the required Star Coin target, will be participating in a reward afternoon next Wednesday. More information will be provided this week and promises to be one that kids won’t want to miss!
Class Dojo
Are you connected to your child’s classroom? If not, you may be missing important information from the teacher. Please get in touch with the teacher if you require guidance.
M4 Change of Teacher
Ms Bentley has accepted a position in the Wheatbelt for the remainder of the year. In her absence Ms Marshall has been appointed the teacher. We look forward to having her on board. We wish Ms Bentley all the best for her new position and look forward to her return in 2024.
Friendly Reminders
– Please do not park in the Kiss N Ride. I don’t think I can be any clearer about this. I thank those parents/carers who have been doing the right thing.
– Students should be wearing helmets if they are riding their bike or scooter.
As always, if you have any questions, please contact the school. Enjoy the rest of the week and the upcoming school holidays.
Regards
Julia Hodge, Principal
