Dear Parents, Carers and Members of the Community
What a great community event the recent Athletics Carnival was. It was wonderful seeing students participating and giving their all. I saw numerous cases of sportsmanship, perseverance and trying your best. Well done to Monyin for claiming the overall win- ning shield and bragging rights for another year. It was as equally impressive, seeing many parents, carers and grandparents sup- porting their children by attending. Well done to our great sports teacher Mrs Elliott for her hard work and dedication to running a successful carnival. Also a big thank you to the many P&C and other parent volunteers who helped out. It ended up being a true showcase of a school that feels like a connected family.
Interschool Cross Country
On Monday, a strong team participated in the interschool Cross Country event. Our team did very well and finished in 5th place. Thank you Mrs Elliott, Mrs Thompson and parent helper Jodie Williamson for taking and supervising the team. A special mention to Jake Williamson who finished 1st in his race and Janeen Mahoney who finished 4th. Well done.
Helmets
I have been very impressed with the amount of parents and carers enforcing their children to wear a helmet when riding a bike or scooter. The number of students wearing them has increased, which shows how important you value your child’s safety when travelling to and from school each day. Thank you.
Communication to Parents
I am pleased to announce that as of next term, we are returning to using Class Dojo as a form of keeping you in the loop with what is happening in all classrooms and across the school. Our website will be under development soon and should be up and running by the start of Term 4. Please keep your eyes out for a Class Dojo Information Package what will contain how to sign up, login and guidelines. This will be emailed and sent home physically.
Addition of Artwork
Well done to M Block students for doing the work on the tiles for NAIDOC Week and a massive thank you to Miss Buller and her partner for giving up their time last weekend to complete it. Its on the M Block external wall and it looks AMAZING! Come and check it out.
Grounds and Buildings Team
We have sought interest from the School Board, P&C and LDC to join myself, Mrs Gouges and Mrs Oakes to
create a team that will develop a 3 year plan to priorities grounds and buildings improvements. The aim is to provide a very clear path for what needs to be completed and by when. This should help all parties see where the needs are, and prioritised spending accordingly. Our first meeting is next week and a plan should be finalised by the end of the year. The summary will be shared with the school community.
Remote Learning Plan
In the likely scenario in the future that we are operating under lockdown or restrictions, we have reviewed and refined our plan for remote learning. This has taken into account how families prefer to access the learning for their children. Classroom teachers have prepared learning in anticipation. We are ready if required.
Planning for 2022
I would really appreciate you contacting the school if you already know your child will not be attending Quinns Beach PS next year. This helps me spend less time on the administrative ’stuff’ and more time on what really matters most– your children.
Lastly, if I don’t see you, please have a great two weeks break for the upcoming school holiday period. The students first day back for Term 4 is Tuesday 12th October.
