Principal’s Update Term 4 week 1

Dear School Community Members

Welcome back everyone. Holidays seem a distant memory, now into week 2 of term 4. This term is a busy term with many events all mixed in with what’s really is important- the classroom teaching and learning program. Teachers continue to teach the curriculum, supported by education assistants and other staff. Students will be undergoing a range of formal assessments to guide semester two reporting. Every day counts. Please discuss with your child the importance of trying their hardest to listen, focus and engage with the learning in all classes.

Athletics Carnivals

We finally had it! Congratulations to Monyin who took out last weeks Athletics Carnival. In second place was Warranang, Bamba came in third and Maadjit in fourth place. Well done to all participants and individual age group winners. It was a great day, one with plenty of spirit, sportsmanship and participation. Thank you to Mrs Rees for leading the organisation of the carnivals. Thanks also to Mrs Heim and Miss Cooper for all your hard work in the lead up and on the day. A special mention to our P&C and parent volunteers under the lead of Mrs Gallagher for a well organised and tasty lunch! Finally, well done to all the staff who worked really well to ensure a smooth and successful carnival. Great to see so many parents and community members in attendance too.

Selected students will now participate in the Interschool Carnivals, being held this Tuesday and Thursday at Ridgewood Park. Good luck and go Team Quinns Beach!

School Board Parent Nomination

Congratulations to Mr Jason Striegher who as the sole nomination, is continuing his term for another 3 years.

School Support Dog Program

Our whole school plan was emailed to our school community in week 10 last term for viewing and feedback. I did not receive any questions or feedback. We will commence the trial program this term and look forward to seeing the benefits. If you have any questions about the program, would like to provide feedback or your child cannot participate please email me directly at Taylor.Webb@education.wa.edu.au

The RSPCA are visiting today to talk with all students about dog safety, correct handling and dog education. This is one strategy we are employing to ensure all students feel safe around school dogs and are informed about the correct processes.

School Survey

A final reminder has been emailed out today. The survey will close on 31st October 2022. Please take the time to complete the survey, as your voice and opinion matter and we really want to hear from more of our parents and carers.

Staffing Update

I wish to share that there has been two permanent appointments made recently. We are so lucky to have Miss Boylan (M3, Year 5/6) continue permanently here at QBPS in her teaching role. Miss Boylan was on a fixed term contract this year, however her teaching and work with sustainability has highlighted how much value she adds to our school.

I am equally as pleased to announce Mrs Leach has won a permanent role as a Special Needs Education Assistant, working with students across many year levels. Mrs Leach has a kind and caring heart, strong work ethic and team first approach.

Staffing Processes Term 4

This term the following staffing processes will be run for 2023:

  • Associate Principal- 1 day a week
  • Physical Education Specialist
  • Music Specialist
  • Aboriginal Education Officer
  • Education Assistant Pools
  • Library Officer
  • Cleaner in Charge

Finally, please encourage all Kindy age parents to enrol their child for 2023. Class structures are already being planned for and last minute enrolments can change our plans.

Regards

Taylor Webb
