Dear Quinns Beach Families,
It is hard to believe we are already halfway through the school year. Your child will be receiving their Semester 1 school report next week and I encourage you to celebrate with your child their successes and discuss what goals they will be working on next semester. If you have any questions or queries regarding your child’s report, please do not hesitate to contact the class teacher to organise a parent/teacher meeting.
I would like to welcome Mrs Sylvia Hearnshaw who is now teaching K1 as Mrs Stacey Johnson goes on leave for the remainder of the year.
A very big thank you to our hardworking P & C. We had an incredibly successful Mother’s Day stall held earlier this term and a very exciting Neon Party held last Friday night. The children (and parents!) looked like they had a wonderful time with their neon outfits and colourful merchandise. The QBPS school community is extremely grateful we can provide these opportunities for our children. Thank you!
A reminder that the Premiers Reading Challenge is on. We have a number of students who are participating which is fantastic, and it isn’t too late to join if your child is still interested. The competition finishes on the 6th of September so there is plenty of time to still sign up. Mrs Pereira in the library is also available to help students record books on Mondays at lunchtime.

The Resilience Project – Mindfulness
Working on mindfulness gives us opportunities to develop our ability to pay attention to the present moment and our thoughts. Practising mindfulness daily can help us stay focused on set tasks and reduce stress and anxiety.
Whole Family Activity:
Mindful Walk
As a family, go on a walk outside in nature. This might be around your local walking track, at your local park, or just around your streets.
While walking, tune into your senses and observe what you can see, hear, and feel. Or you might choose to focus on one of the senses. Eg: Hear: what are all the noises you can hear on your walk?
On your way home or when you return home, share what each person saw, heard, or felt.
Family Habit Builder:
Each night at dinner, ask everyone to take one mouthful of food more mindfully than the rest and think about the flavours they can taste and how it makes them feel. (They can also thank the chef!).
Authentic Connection Webinar
As part of our Early Years Wellbeing Program with The Resilience Project, on Thursday 6th June there was an Authentic Connection Webinar for Early Years Parents & Carers with Hugh van Cuylenburg. In this presentation Hugh speaks about supporting your whole family’s mental health through connection and vulnerability.
If you were unable to attend, or would like to revisit the session, please click on the recording link below:
This recording will be available until 7th July, 2024.
If you are wanting further information on how you can continue this learning at home, information can be found on the TRP@HOME . This site will provide you with inspiration and activities for the whole family, to help improve your wellbeing and build resilience.
Our last major events for the term are our Interschool Winter Carnival held this Friday the 21st of June for our upper years.
NAIDOC Week will also run over Week 11. This year’s theme celebrates the unyielding spirit of our communities and invites all to stand in solidarity, amplifying the voices that have long been silenced. “Blak, Loud and Proud” encapsulates the unapologetic celebration of Indigenous identity, empowering us to stand tall in our heritage and assert our place in the modern world. To start NAIDOC Week off, our Opening and Smoking Ceremony will be held on Monday the 24th of June. All families are invited to join us at 9am on the mini grass oval.
Have a wonderful winter break everyone. Enjoy your family time and much needed rest. We will see you all next term.
