Principals Updates Term 2 Week 6

Kaya Everyone,

We are now into the second half of the term already with still lots to look forward to. It has been a busy start with students engaging in their learning programs and teachers will soon be preparing formal reports which you receive at the end of term.

Last week students participated in our Positive Expectations STAR reward for displaying the positive expected behaviours over a 5 week period. Each class was able to visit the Old MacDonald Travelling Farm to watch and pat the friendly farm animals. It was a wonderful experience, and we look forward to our next STAR reward in Week 10.

Upcoming events include NAIDOC Week, Interschool Winter Carnival and K5 and M6 assemblies.

Thank you to the P and C for organising our Pyjama Day to fundraise. The staff and students really enjoyed coming to school today in their comfy, warm PJs, which was a real treat in this cold weather!

Library Update

The library works are underway with the hopes of carpets to be laid and carpentry to start in the next few weeks. In the meantime, we have set up a mini library for students to access next to the staff room. Students can visit the library before school and at lunch time on Mondays and Wednesdays to log their Premier’s Reading Challenge Books. Thank you to Mrs Pereira and staff that helped set up the mini library.

Boodija-karadjing- Caring for Country

I encourage our school community members to join us in planting native plans which have been kindly donated by the Wildflowers Society. Ms Boylan and the Environmental Warriors have been working hard in preparation for our new Noongar Garden which will support our students in learning to care for and develop their understanding of native plants and how they grow and flourish, reflective of the six Noongar seasons. Please refer to the flyer below for more information.

Reminders

A reminder that Monday, 5th of June is a Public Holiday (WA Day). I wish you all a safe and relaxing long weekend.

Kind regards,

Ms Kathryn Meyer
